The Aqua Bar
If you ever find yourself wandering the scenic coastline of Pevensey Bay, there’s one spot you shouldn’t miss: The Aqua Bar. Located right on Sea Road (Pevensey BN24 6EH, United Kingdom), this friendly and laid-back bar restaurant offers more than just a place to eat - it’s a local experience. Whether you’re out for a solo bite, meeting friends for drinks, or catching live music on the weekend, The Aqua Bar is where it all comes together.
One of the first things you'll notice is how accessible and welcoming the place is. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, toilet, and car park, the venue ensures that everyone can enjoy what it has to offer. The outdoor seating area is especially popular on warmer days - imagine sipping a cold pint just steps from the sea breeze. It’s ideal for lunch or dinner with a view.
Speaking of drinks, The Aqua Bar boasts an impressive selection of beer and wine. The Sussex Best Bitter is a crowd favorite, offering a perfect blend of richness and smooth finish. If you’re more into lager, you’ll want to try their Cold Carling, which is served exactly how it should be - ice-cold and refreshing. Wine lovers aren’t left out either, with a well-curated wine list, including a smooth red that pairs beautifully with many of their main dishes. And for those seeking something stronger, they also serve cocktails and spirits, making it a proper all-rounder bar.
But The Aqua Bar isn’t just about the drinks. The food menu is where this place really shines. Think classic British pub fare, but elevated. Their Fish and Chips is often described as "brilliant" - golden, crispy batter encasing fresh fish, served with chunky chips and mushy peas. On Sundays, the Roast Turkey Dinner draws in regulars who swear it’s the best in town. Craving something lighter? The Chicken Goujons Basket and Side Salad hit the spot without weighing you down.
One hidden gem on the menu? The Apple Crumble with Custard - warm, comforting, and absolutely unmissable if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Portions are generous, and service is quick - ideal for those grabbing a quick bite or on a short lunch break.
Beyond food and drink, the vibe at The Aqua Bar keeps locals coming back. It’s got this relaxed, unpretentious energy that makes you feel right at home. There’s always something happening - live music performances, bar games, and even dancing if you're up for it. Sports fans will be glad to know it’s also a good spot to watch a match, with large TVs and a lively atmosphere during game time.
For those looking for a versatile experience, The Aqua Bar ticks a lot of boxes. You can dine-in, takeaway if you're on the go, or chill out on the patio. While they don’t offer delivery, the vibe and hospitality make it worth the visit. The staff are friendly and know their menu inside out - don’t be shy about asking for drink pairings or food recommendations.
In terms of similar spots, you'd be hard-pressed to find a place nearby with this combination of great beer, comfort food, live entertainment, and a genuinely local atmosphere. It’s not just a bar; it’s a community hub. A place where regulars are greeted by name and newcomers are welcomed with a smile.
So, if you're hunting for a spot in East Sussex that offers hearty food, a top-tier drink selection, and a cozy, seaside ambiance, The Aqua Bar should be at the top of your list. Whether it's lunch under the sun or a lively Friday night out, this is where memories are made.

Right on the beach, can be windy. Good prices £1.10 a pint cheaper than a previous establishment I visited.
Lovely place. The house is right on the beach front. Summer nights were very enjoyable. Witnessed starry nights after a long time. Morning walk with children. Children playing with pebbles, drinking coffee and adoring morning sun rise. Amazing.
The fish and chips looked amazing, and i was told it was blooming marvellous. Being gluten-free i could not eat it. Lovely staff great place to meet the family
Great location but lacking the charm and character of a typical pub.
On holiday popped in 3 times, had lunch twice with drinks and drinks in the evening another night all with my family. Can't fault the food or the bar, however found my car blocked in the car park. After asking around, it appeared to belong to the attached accommodation. I knocked on the door and asked if they owned the car and could they move it PLEASE. An obnoxious beaded man appeared accused me of being rude, I explained the car was blocking in 3 vehicles. He subsequently took his time moving the vehicle, fiddling about with dog baskets and then a dog while smiling at me!!. I am a man of little patience and my wife was holding me from getting out of my car and confronting the man. When he did move the car the owner of the bar appeared too. Not a word from him. Sadly my money will be spent elsewhere while l complete my holiday and by my family who are following me down next week will not be visiting the bar. Families that spend money on food and drinks with no budget are in short supply and should be looked after. Not short of £250 was spent by me in 3 visits.
